Frequently Asked Questions

  • What packages do you offer and what are the costs involved?
    • We offer 3 packages tailored to suit your needs, you can find the details on our Pricing information page, however if you feel you need something more bespoke please contact us and we can happily discuss it.
  • Is this price for two photographers?
    • Yes, all our bookings are for both Darryl and Craig to attend
  • How many weddings have you covered so far?
    • We have been fortunate to cover numerous weddings since we started Black & Comrie Weddings in 2014. Please see our Portfolio page for some examples from real life weddings – not staged shoots with models etc.
  • Do you do this as your full time job?
    • We run Black & Comrie Weddings as a part time business. This allows us opportunity to dedicate time to your photographs. We do not treat your day as a just another one on the conveyor belt, we do this because we truly enjoy it.
  • What sort of camera kit do you use? Is it professional equipment?
    • Yes of course. We have almost £20,000 of our own photographic equipment which we will be using on the day. We both use Canon DSLR camera’s (we will have 4 cameras in total on the day). We use Canon pro L lenses and Canon flashguns. We process our images using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop CC software packages. We don’t use rented equipment, it’s all our own kit.
  • Do you use flash photography?
    • We prefer not to use flash whenever possible. Natural light would always be any photographer’s preference and is certainly ours, however some conditions may lend themselves to flash or be necessary for flash. **Please make your guests and other wedding suppliers aware that flash photography may occur. If anyone has reasons for us not to use flash you will need to let us know in advance, otherwise we will take it as fine to use flash if, and only if we deem it necessary. 
  • How will I get my photographs?
    • We will supply your images all fully edited on a USB stick and are copyright free. We only use known branded USB manufacturers to ensure reliability & high quality.
  • How many images will I get on the USB?
    • A full day shoot would normally easily provide 400+ images as an estimate, but this number is not restricted at all. We shoot continually throughout the day.
  • Do you edit photos to black & white and colour-pop them etc.? 
    • Yes, we will. We shoot in RAW format so every image will be processed. We will then also edit a selection of images to black & white, sepia, colour-pop, and other effects too. We don’t simply shoot in JPEG and not spend the time on processing. We like to devote the time and effort your photographs deserve.
  • What if an image I want in black & white is not in the USB?
    • No problem, just let us know the file number and we will happily edit it and send it to you.
  • When will I get my photographs?
    • We normally advise to allow around 4 weeks after the day to allow us time to collate, process and edit your images. We will keep you updated on our progress.
  • Can you provide prints of our photographs?
    • Yes, we can offer prints in free standing mounts for you to purchase… this can be discussed at your consultation.
  • Can our guests and families make a purchase?
    • Yes, of course. We will create a private on line gallery of a selection of images within a couple of days of your wedding. You can share this gallery and password with whom you wish and they can place orders on line.
  • What time will you arrive?
    • Times are listed on our Pricing….however we can discuss any bespoke requirements when we meet for a pre-wedding consultation
  • When do stay until?
    • Again, details are noted in our Pricing, but we would normally leave shortly  after your 1st dance if you have booked the full day
  • Do you need to be on the guest list for the meal?
    • No, we don’t need a formal place setting, however, we would kindly request if you could provide a simple bar meal for us. It can be a long working day for your photographers with little chance for us to stop for a break. 
  • What would you be wearing at our wedding?
    • We aim to look professional and would be in smart casual business attire. We both wear matching open neck shirts in our Black & Comrie Wedding colours, normal suit trousers and shoes. We try to blend in to your wedding whilst giving ourselves a degree of comfort when shooting your day. Don’t worry, we won’t turn up in Bermuda shorts and flip flops! 
  • Do you need a deposit?
    • A non-refundable 20% deposit will secure your date with us in our diary
  • How do we pay you?
    • For deposits you can pay by good old fashioned cash or BACS transfer.
    • For the remaining balance, you can pay cash, BACS transfer or via PayPal.
  • Can we spread the cost monthly?
    • We do not offer a credit facility, however we can offer flexible payments via PayPal to allow you to pay off the balance in advance of the date. We know wedding planning can get expensive. This will allow you make regular payments to spread the cost and suit your budget.
  • Will we meet in person before the date?
    • Yes, a consultation is included with every booking. We always look to meet with couples again a few weeks before the date, just to discuss the plans and ensure all the details are correct etc. 30 mins is usually time enough for this as we know you will be busy with your other plans.
  • Do you direct the day?
    • We are there to capture and record your day for you as you have planned it. It’s not our day it’s yours. But we will guide and assist wherever possible.
  • Is there anything we should do in preparation for the day?
    • We can discuss when we meet, but we are there are a few things to think of…please see our Hints & Tips
  • Do you provide a contract?
    • Yes, we will have a contract for you to sign when we meet or we can email it to you.
  • Do you allow guests to take photographs as well?
    • Of course. It’s your day not ours. We are happy for your guests to take photographs so long as you are happy for them to do so. All we would ask is that for specific moments we capture the image for you first then allow your guests to take theirs, e.g. signing the register etc. 
  • Do you share your images on social media platforms like Facebook?
    • We will share some images on our social media pages to help promote our services as per our T&C’s, and also to showcase you on your big day, however we would always ask you to approve the images we choose beforehand
  • What if it’s raining?
    • Unfortunately we can only work within the conditions we are presented with. We will look to discuss the options for indoor shooting with the venue beforehand just in case
  • Do you offer any guarantees?
    • As with all wedding photographers we can only shoot what is in front of us and deal with the venue and conditions as we are presented at the time. We will work hard to do our very best for you. Other details and terms can be found on our contract.
  • Can you recommend any other wedding suppliers such as videographer, limo hire, bands etc.?
    • We do not like to recommend other service providers as we think it is important that everything is your own personal choice, however we do have various contacts that we have worked with and are happy to put you in touch with.
  • Anything else?
    • As a special extra, for couples choosing the Silver or Gold package, we will put together a slideshow of a selection of images from the day to the music of your 1st dance. This is a wonderful way remember and share your day!
